Trip Indroduction

Kaskikot Village Homestay is always a good idea for your vacation in Nepal because it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. Kasikot village had its history about 350 years ago when the king of Kaski built a palace here and named it Kasikot. Since then the village has flourished as a traditional heritage located near Pokhara in the Kaski district.  Kaskikot Homestay lies about 13 km west of Pokhara which can be accessed either by vehicle or by hiking for about 3 hours. The route to Kasikot village intersects with many other trekking routes around the Annapurna region. Hence, it can be included as a start point or an endpoint to the trekking route in the Annapurna region.

Kaskikot Village Homestay, popular Homestay program in Nepal takes you up to the Kasikot Village, at an altitude of 1788m, provides mesmerizing views of the Himalayan mountain range especially the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains.  The food is locally produced in the organic farms and fields and the meal is also prepared in the traditional way over firewood. Kasikot has ample activities that you can experience as a typical Nepali villager. The villagers are very friendly and more humbled by your interest in their culture and lifestyle. You can also visit the local schools, youth clubs and interact with the friendly villagers.  You can learn as well as assist the villagers in their daily chores and farming in their fields. The ethnic diversity of the village includes Brahmins, Chettris, Thaukuri, Magars and Dalits which make the cultural exploration even more exciting.

You can also hike up to Kasikot hilltop to witness the ruins of the old palace. The hilltop also provides a magnificent view of the sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the far-west and a clear view of the Pokhara city and Fewa Lake in the East. Himalayan Monk Travels & Treks is always with you to prepare you for any challenges and will accompany you throughout your Homestay in Nepal.

Outside the city, all meals during your stay in Kasikot homes are included in the cost. The meals here are limited to the traditional dal-bhat as the main course of the meal. The food here is organic harvested right before cooking over the fire woods.

Travel season

Trekking to Kasikot is favorable throughout the year between September and May. Spring and autumn seasons are best to trek through the lush green and blossoming forests with clear skies. During winter, the atmosphere is much chillier, but you can experience the winters in the traditional houses of Nepal too. On the other hand, trekking during the monsoon through the forest is not a good idea. The views are also obstructed by rains clouds and so is your mobility through the trail.

Day 1: Drive or trek to Kaskikot village and explore the village (1788m)

It takes about an hour from Pokhara city to reach one of the rural yet beautiful villages of Nepal, Kaskikot.  You can also trek for just 3 hours to reach the village. On reaching Kaskikot village, you will find Nepali people of different ethnic backgrounds. The ambience is also very relaxing with a better view of the snow-mountains and the valley. You can enjoy the rest of the day like a typical Nepali person. You can wear the traditional Nepali dresses and work with the locals in the farms and houses. You can herd cattle and guide buffaloes in paddy fields or harvest crops and vegetables as per the season. You can also assist in doing household chores, make food and involve in some exquisite activities like churning milk and make various types of flour.

Day 2: Return to Pokhara (820m)

Before you depart from the village, you have a chance to find the brilliance of the sunrise over the snow-mountains and feel the light slowly warming up the surrounding early in the morning.  The air is also very fresh around the mountains and the morning air will surely make you feel rejuvenated. You can return to Pokhara by driving through the mountain track.
