Trip Indroduction

Lwang Ghalel Homestay, a popular Home Stay Package in Nepal takes you to the Lwang Ghalel village located about 30 kilometers north-east of Pokhara. The small village and trekking site has been emerging as a favourite tourist destination for various reasons such as: traditional Nepali homes made of stones, homestay facility with warm and hospitable locals, comfortable accommodation, delicious organic food directly from the fields and gardens, cool environment with flourishing tea garden, almond farming and an opportunity for a thrilling canoeing experience. Lwang Ghalel Homestay is always a good idea for your vacation in Nepal because it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.

The Lwang Ghalel village is inhabited by different ethnic groups of people including the Brahmins, Chettris, Gurungs, Tamangs, Newars, and Dalits, opening a range of the cultural window. The villagers are extremely friendly and they themselves take you for a tour of the Annapurna organic tea farm, the community almond farm as well as to the canoeing site and the waterfalls. You can see many young people being actively involved in these farms and recreational sports which is breaking the culture of youth migration in Nepal. Some other interesting activities you can participate in the village are by mingling with the locals to learn to churn yogurt, butter, ghee, etc.  You can also get traditional by putting on the cultural dresses and experiencing some daily household chores of the villagers. In the evenings you can rest in the peaceful environment of the isolated village feeling blissful under the towering image of the Machapuchhare Himal and feeling the tranquility of nature.

Trek to Lwang Ghalel leads you from the path along the foothills of the chains of mountains, along with the flowing rivers and beautiful valleys with the view of diligent farmers working in farmlands. The short yet fulfilling experience in Lwang Ghalel’s homestay program can also be linked to the Mardi Himal Base Camp trek that lets you get more of the bounty of the Annapurna region or vice versa. Lwang Village Home Stay, Ghalegaun Homestay and Kaskikot Village Homestay in Nepal provides you a memory to cherish and money worth spending, with Himalayan Monk Travels & Treks.

Travel season

Trekking to Lwang Ghalel is favourable throughout the year between September and May. Spring and autumn seasons are best to trek through the lush green and blossoming forests with clear skies. During winter, the atmosphere is much chillier, but you can experience the winters in the traditional houses of Nepal too. On the other hand, trekking during the monsoon through the forest is not a good idea. The views are also obstructed by rains clouds and so is your mobility through the trail.

Day 1: Kathmandu to Lwang Ghalel via Pokhara (7 hrs)

We arrive at Pokhara either by bus or flight from Kathmandu. We drive for about an hour to reach Lwang Village from Pokhara. The view of Mt Fishtail (Machapuchhare) from the village is much closer and clearer than from Pokhara. We interact with the friendly locals and have a traditional Nepali dinner. We stay the night in one of the village houses with the home-stay facility.

Day 2: Excursion of Lwang Ghalel (1550m)

Early morning we wake before the sun and reach the viewpoint to watch the sunrise over the Himalayan range. After breakfast, we tour the Lwang Ghalel village; visit the tea garden and enjoy at the canoeing site. We see youngsters of the village actively participating in these activities. Then later we interact with the locals to do some typical household activities like churning of yogurt, making butter, ghee, etc.  You can become one of the villages by wearing the traditional dresses. We enjoy the night with a dance and song and rest at the same home.

Day 3: Return to Pokhara –Kathmandu (7 hrs)

Local bid us farewell by putting on tika and flower garlands. Our ride back to Pokhara also has some scenic views of the valleys and mountains. Then from Pokhara we return to Kathmandu through the busy highway along the rivers and mountains. At night you stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
